The Power of Beethoven 1

A concert in interaction with the audience

With the 6 quartets Op. 18 (1798-1800), Beethoven took the string quartet genre into his own hands. Although still respectful of a certain tradition, these quartets already illustrate the composer's taste for subversive experimentation and the affirmation of an entirely personal language.

Impressive for its proportions and the complexity of its writing, the 7th Quartet Op. 59/1 - the most important of Op. 59 - is crucial for its superb opening Allegro and, like the ‘Eroica’ symphony, constitutes a real dividing line in relation to our entire musical tradition.
